Brow Lift Moorestown, NJThis time of year, we can all get a little tired. Running around Philadelphia looking for the right gifts, hitting various parties, buttoning up the house with the last steps to prepare for winter — there aren’t enough hours in the day. But you want to have “earned” the tired appearance, not to simply be saddled with it due to your heavy, drooping brows.

Fortunately, Dr. Chandler can elevate those sagging brows with a brow lift.

What’s the problem?

Many people don’t realize their brows are doing some serious sagging. After all, we see them every day, so we don’t see a noticeable change one day. But others maybe don’t see you all the time. A sagging, heavily furrowed brow can make you look perennially tired, worried, or even angry. When you think about it Ebenezer Scrooge could probably have used a brow lift. May have changed everything for him…and Bob Cratchit. Many patients come in to see Dr. Chandler and pull their brows up with their hands and say “See, look how nice that looks!!”

A brow lift with Dr. Chandler makes you appear more alert. It removes the drooping brows that cause your eyes to look as if you’re angry or simply tired.

What does a brow lift do?

Sometimes called a forehead lift, a brow lift focuses on the upper third of the face. This is often known as the expressive area of the face, as it involves most of the muscles we move to form many expressions, such as surprise, irritation, even anger. Dr. Chandler removes the sagging of the brows by repositioning the underlying muscles and tissues.

Patients sometimes come to Dr. Chandler believing they need upper eyelid surgery, but this won’t correct significant drooping of the brows. Brow lift surgery can reverse much of what aging has done to the brows, creating a much more alert, youthful appearance.

How is a brow lift done?

Dr. Chandler usually prefers the endoscopic brow lift, unless the patient needs an extreme amount of lifting and tissue excision. In an endoscopic brow lift, he makes a series of very short incisions, usually about ¾”, just behind the hairline. A tiny tool with a camera on the end, an endoscope, is inserted to provide visuals under the skin, alleviating the need for a long coronal incision. Thin instruments are inserted through the small incisions to reposition and lift the muscles and underlying tissues, raising the brows back up. Excess fat and skin will be removed as needed.

A brow lift may be combined with eyelid surgery to address both the upper face and the eyes. Sometimes Botox combined with an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) can be sufficient to rejuvenate aging brows if they are not severely droopy.
