Sagging Brows Give the Wrong Impression (Brow Lift)

Eyebrow Lift Philadelphia PAOur brows don’t have it easy. Gravity, sun damage, repeated facial expressions, and the natural slackening of skin and support tissues all gang up to make our brows droop and sag. This makes us look older and can give the impression we’re either angry or tired all the time. Drooping brows make the upper eyelid area look far worse, contributing to an aged overall appearance.

A brow lift with Dr. Chandler can bring the brows back up, giving you an alert, younger, happier countenance.

Who is right for a brow lift?

There is a genetic predisposition for some people to develop saggy brows. But general aging can be equally to blame. Most of Dr. Chandler’s brow lift patients are over the age of 40 and feature lined or inelastic skin on their foreheads. Often patients do not realize how much their eyebrows are affecting their upper eyelids and think that an eyelid lift will be sufficient to lift the lids and brows — and that isn’t the case. Some people will need an upper eyelid surgery and a brow lift to look their best.

If you’d like to see a simple example of how a brow lift will affect your forehead area, do this test. Stand in front of the mirror and place the palms of your hands to the sides of your eyes above the eyebrows. Now pull the skin back from the eyes. This raising of the forehead is what the brow lift will do.

The best brow lift technique to look amazing

Dr. Chandler performs brow lifts with his personalized, best modern technique, known as an endoscopic brow lift. Very often a conservative Upper Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) is performed at the same time as the eyebrow lift. Dr. Chandler will discuss what he feels will work best for you during your consultation.

  • Endoscopic brow lift — In this method, Dr. Chandler typically makes three short incisions, each less than one inch, behind the hairline. He then inserts an endoscope into one of the incisions. The endoscope enables him to see beneath the skin without making the long incision of a more traditional method. Through the other incisions he then lifts the skin, elevates the brows, removes tissue, and adjust muscles as needed.

After brow lifting there can be mild numbness and discomfort at the incision sites and occasionally a brief headache. Numbness will give way to itching as the forehead heals. This usually passes within three to six months. Obviously, the endoscopic method makes for an easier recovery as compared with older, more traditional methods of brow lifting which required extensive, long incisions.
